Product description
10 ml of dilute acetic acid solution in a sealed vial, for peptides that will not go into solution in neutral bacteriostatic water.
When bacteriostatic water is not enough
Not every peptide dissolves readily at neutral pH. Sequences rich in hydrophobic residues, and some longer chains, will sit as an undissolved cake or leave visible particulate no matter how patiently they are swirled. Lowering the pH increases solubility for many of these, which is what a dilute acid diluent is for.
If a vial has not cleared in bacteriostatic water, the answer is usually a change of diluent rather than more agitation. Shaking will not fix a solubility problem and will shear peptide chains in the attempt.
How to use it
Add slowly down the inside wall of the vial, swirl gently, and allow time. Some sequences clear over several minutes rather than immediately. A solution that remains cloudy after a reasonable interval indicates either the wrong diluent or a material problem worth raising against the certificate of analysis.
Note that dilute acetic acid contains no bacteriostatic agent, so a solution prepared with it should be treated as single-session rather than repeatedly entered.
Storage
Unopened vials keep at room temperature away from light.
Supplied strictly for laboratory research use only. Not for human or veterinary use, and not for diagnostic or therapeutic application. Purchasers must be 18 or over and are responsible for compliance with the rules applying to them.
