TB-500 is not thymosin beta-4

Worth stating on every listing, because two different substances are sold under one name across this market. TB-500 is the acetylated seven-residue fragment, Ac-LKKTETQ, at 889.0 g/mol. Thymosin beta-4 is the full 43-residue protein at roughly 4,963 g/mol, five and a half times heavier.

This is the fragment. Check the molecular weight on any certificate of analysis to confirm which you have received. A supplier unwilling to state the mass has told you something useful.

The actin-binding region

Thymosin beta-4 sequesters actin and is involved in cytoskeletal organisation and cell migration. Residues 17 to 23 carry the actin-binding motif, which is the reason this specific fragment was synthesised and studied.

Note the asymmetry in the evidence base. Full-length thymosin beta-4 has been through human clinical trials; the fragment largely has not. Literature on the protein does not transfer to the fragment.

How is it reconstituted?

Vials arrive as a lyophilised cake under vacuum. Store sealed at −20 °C, protected from light. Allow the vial to reach room temperature before breaking the seal, which prevents condensation drawing moisture into the powder.

Reconstitute with bacteriostatic water down the vial wall, swirling rather than shaking. Allow the larger cake to clear fully before drawing any volume.

Once in solution, TB-500 should be kept refrigerated at 2 to 8 °C and protected from light. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles, which degrade peptides faster than steady refrigeration. Reconstituted material is not indefinitely stable and working solutions are best prepared in the volumes actually needed.
